Safeguarding

Wilson Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children. We expect every member of staff and all volunteers to share this commitment. Our team works hard to maintain an environment where children feel safe, secure, and supported.

All staff, governors, and volunteers act proactively in matters of child welfare at all times.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs):

  • Mrs Polly O'Donnell – Assistant Headteacher / SENCo

Deputy Safeguarding Leads:

  • Mrs Claire Hurst – Executive Headteacher
  • Mrs Helen Daniel – Deputy Headteacher
  • Ms Gemma Charnock – Assistant Headteacher

Designated Safeguarding Governor:

  • Mr Stephen Shears

If you have any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please contact one of our safeguarding leads via the school office.

Security of pupils, staff, volunteers and Visitors

All visitors must:

  • Enter through main entrance and report directly to the office
  • Be signed in and have ID checked by office staff (DBS or valid ID)
  • Wear the appropriate lanyard
  • Ensure you sign out and let the office know when you are leaving
  • Ensure the gates and doors are securely closed behind you as you leave

Disclosure and Barring Service

To keep our children safe, all visitors—including supply staff and regular volunteers—must present either a valid DBS certificate or photo ID upon entry to school.

Volunteers for school trips will also undergo a List 99 check, and this information will be gathered in advance. These measures ensure that only suitable, DBS-checked adults work unsupervised with children.

If you have any questions about these procedures, please contact the school office.
