The Wilson Primary School

Pupil premium & Sport Premium

 Pupil & Recovery Premium

All schools receive Pupil Premium funding, which is provided for pupils whose families are eligible for certain benefits. This funding is a vital part of our school budget and helps us remove barriers to learning, ensuring every child has the best possible opportunities to succeed.

At Wilson Primary School, we use Pupil Premium funding in a variety of ways, including:

  • Targeted staffing for interventions and small group support
  • Forest School sessions to build confidence and resilience
  • Music tuition to nurture creativity and talent
  • Access to enrichment activities and out-of-school opportunities

Impact on Our Students

Pupil Premium funding makes a real difference. Here’s how it benefits our children:

  • Improved academic progress through tailored interventions and one-to-one support
  • Greater confidence and resilience, especially through hands-on, experiential learning opportunities
  • Enhanced creativity and self-expression through music and arts opportunities
  • Broader horizons by enabling participation in trips, clubs, and enrichment activities that might otherwise be out of reach

These resources help us ensure that every child can thrive and reach their full potential—regardless of background.

Sport Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is a government initiative that provides primary schools with additional funding to improve the quality of physical education, physical activity, and sport. Nationally, this funding amounts to £320 million, and it is allocated directly to schools so they have the flexibility to use it in ways that best meet the needs of their pupils.

At Wilson Primary School, we use this funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to our PE provision, ensuring that every child has access to high-quality physical activity and sporting opportunities.
