Severe Weather Days
At Wilson Primary School, we aim to stay open whenever possible, even during severe weather such as heavy snow, high winds, or flooding.
Parents and carers are responsible for getting children to and from school safely and should decide if the journey is safe when conditions affect transport or walking routes. If your child cannot attend because conditions are unsafe, please inform the school office.
We will only close the school if absolutely necessary, for reasons such as:
- Safety concerns around the site and building
- Lack of heating or water
- Closure of the school kitchen
- Insufficient staff to supervise children safely
If the school needs to close:
- Parents will be informed by text and email
- In some cases, late opening may be announced the night before
- If conditions worsen during the day and children need to go home early, parents will be contacted by text message
